Calling all people with 3D modelling experience, especially with ripping models from games
So here’s the story. I’m trying to rip the models from Star Fox Assault, with no prior experience in model ripping. I just wanna see those sleek ships in Gmod, so I need to extract the models. However, it seems I’ve run into many dead ends in trying to figure out how to rip models from Gamecube games. I’ve tried using Dolphin and 3D Ripper X, but that didn’t work out. I’ve extracted the file system of the game, found what I assume are the model files, but they’re in a format I have no idea about (.c3d, .chd, and .cbd). I’ve also read that the file types depend if the game is first party or third party made. Star Fox Assault was made by Namco, so it doesn’t use Nintendo’s file types, which programs have already been made for, so that’s another roadblock.
Also, I’ve tried ripping models from the Nintendo DS game, Star Fox Command, only to find I face a similar problem, as it seems all the model viewers developed for it work for filetypes the game doesn’t have (Command has .mdl-cmp files for it’s models, whatever that means).
So if anybody has any experience with ripping models from Gamecube and Nintendo DS games, please let me know. Thank you.
