I got a Gamecube to USB converter so I can play Assault on my computer with a GC controller and it makes this process a lot easier.
Next on the list is the Cornerian fighter (I’ve nicknamed it the Delta) from level 8 of Star Fox Assault.
This fighter is really the entire reason I’m doing all of this model ripping, because ever since I saw it in the game back in 2006 I was like “wow that’s cool looking I want to be able to fly it” but alas that never happened, so the next best thing is being able to rip it from the game as a 3D model.
Also if anybody has any experience taking models from 3DS Max and putting them in Gmod I would be grateful if you help me.
Have you ever noticed the original Starfox team’s legs? They are robotic. The speculation behind this is that the extreme D’s that are produced from the high speed of their Arwings combined with the maneuvers they pull of could cause all the blood to rush to their legs, causing blackout or…
A. “extreme D’s”?
B. They’re supports for the original puppets that were featured in box art and promotional media. Just look at any action figure and you’ll see a similar construction design, especially if they have pose-able feet.
C. The limited polygon limitations of the N64 made the boots that they wore look thinner than normal, and even then once the consoles with higher polygon counts came out, the models of the characters in Starfox had full legs and boots.
D. The G-Diffuser system has always been in Starfox canon, it wasn’t introduced in 64.
If you’re going to post something, check your info, and make sure you aren’t basically making up stuff in order to put something on your blog.
So here’s the story. I’m trying to rip the models from Star Fox Assault, with no prior experience in model ripping. I just wanna see those sleek ships in Gmod, so I need to extract the models. However, it seems I’ve run into many dead ends in trying to figure out how to rip models from Gamecube games. I’ve tried using Dolphin and 3D Ripper X, but that didn’t work out. I’ve extracted the file system of the game, found what I assume are the model files, but they’re in a format I have no idea about (.c3d, .chd, and .cbd). I’ve also read that the file types depend if the game is first party or third party made. Star Fox Assault was made by Namco, so it doesn’t use Nintendo’s file types, which programs have already been made for, so that’s another roadblock.
Also, I’ve tried ripping models from the Nintendo DS game, Star Fox Command, only to find I face a similar problem, as it seems all the model viewers developed for it work for filetypes the game doesn’t have (Command has .mdl-cmp files for it’s models, whatever that means).
So if anybody has any experience with ripping models from Gamecube and Nintendo DS games, please let me know. Thank you.
